Dark Creations: Dressed To Kill

Dark Creations

“Leather rebel, lightning in the dark! Leather rebel, with a burning heart!” (c) Yep, today we’re going to uncover something very cool and classic in a way too. “In a way” because times do change and it affects not only technology, politics or ecology, but also the human mentality. For instance, if you play a classic 80’s rock video, you’d probably see some beautiful ladies dressed in leather and spandex. The latter has survived and stood the test of time while leather hasn’t. Wearing leather becomes unnecessary and even less and less socially acceptable, so the faux leather has come to replace it. Luckily it has changed much neither the qualities of clothes nor its looks. Even better – this transition has made the technology go fast forward and finally deliver us more materials looking like leather while being factory-made. Usually, they are much lighter and let your skin breath, plus they look like leather and feel great, so I’m not surprised so many clothing brands keep giving them a thumb up. You can be veggie-dressed and still look rock’n’roll :)

Watching through the Dark Creations catalogue is like diving into the glam scene of 80’s Sunset Strip (or catching an early Motley Crue video on VH1), like getting a time machine to the epic age of the loud music, speed, fun, whiskey, and Harleys.

Dark Creations is a so-called one-person brand started by the young designer Asmira Pepic in Lüneburg, Germany. Her interest happened to be all over the 80’s rock and goth culture, where tight and sexy black leather or spandex used to collide with metal and the occult imagery. Using her imagination and advancing the skills on the go Asmira has managed to develop quite a product line! Watching through it is like diving into the glam scene of 80’s Sunset Strip (or catching an early Motley Crue video on VH1), like getting a time machine to the epic age of the loud music, speed, fun, whiskey, and Harleys.

The main Dark Creations’ product seems to be pants and damn, you’ll find a lot of them at this store – dozens of different designs made of faux leather and spandex in striking black, red and white with various cuts, shapes, and textures, often smartly united with other materials like cotton and lace. Some of them are just the pure rock stars and some of them have an occult statement, like inverted crosses or pentagrams: it’s up to you which level of coolness you want to achieve :) It’s easy to get lost in this surplus of choices! Short skirts, tops, vests, corsage tops and even bikinis and some charming pieces of lingerie are also an important part of the deal. Practically you can get dressed to kill, create and complete your new persona without leaving the Dark Creations web-store, well, maybe only once, to get a matching pair of boots. As stated, each and every piece is designed and hand-made by Asmira Pepic herself, and I wouldn’t say the prices are too high for the hand-made products. The price policy is rather average and bearable for those who are not ready to fall for the mass-produced clothing.

As for now Dark Creations is still a small brand building its fame on the top quality and the highest attention to the details. Its clothing is always available at the brand’s official web-store and sometimes on eBay. Lately, Asmira started to present her business at the various dark music festival so as a festival goer you have a nice chance to find a Dark Creations booth, greet Asmira personally and also try her products first-hand.
